Just about the loudest thunderstorm I’ve ever experienced last night. It kept me awake for hours. I suppose things are bigger in the US.
Boyf’s friend JoAnn came round for dinner last night. She’s nice. We talked web pages as she’s in the process of setting one up.
Pictures of back home.
Captain Euro to the rescue!

Going to visit the State Historical Society tomorrow.

Pills don’t seem to be causing boyf any problems, apart from making him slightly more tired. He usually gets up earlier and goes to bed earlier than me anyway (because I prefer a lie in and watch BBC World News at 11pm).
More pictures: US power sockets and their name for double cream.

I’ve uploaded pictures of the fallen-down tree and it being cut up by the maintenance guy, Joe.
In the USA, light switches work upside down.

It’s odd being here. I actually look forward to weekdays as more seems to happen around me (note: around me, rather than to me).
I think I’ll take some random photos and post them on my site so people can see how I live here. They’ll be fairly mundane but, like money, trivia makes the world go round.
Oh, to replace meme-dissemination with a proper, waffly essay.
Boyf is doing OK on the new pills. Fortunately he only has to take eight per day.
One more meme: US recipes all measure by volume rather than weight. Think about it.

A tree fell over in the woodland at the end of the garden the other day. I just happened to be looking out of the window when it fell (there have been lots of storms recently). I didn’t hear it make a sound so can’t add anything to the philosophical debate.
Yesterday, downtown was packed with people wearing the colours of the UW Badgers as there was a game on (American Football, in case you were wondering).
Today’s link: Caroline Lucas, MEP.
Today’s proto-communist programming irony.

Went to a small town about 25 miles north called Columbus. There was a large antique mall there that boyf’s friends, who transported us, wanted to see.
Testy moments in the relationship, given that boyf is back on his pills and I have to worry if they’ll make him ‘freak out’. Time will tell.
On a higher plane: am I the only one in the world who believes in ’causes’, especially those involving international institutions such as the EU, UN, ICC and treaties such as human rights and universal justice? Most people, when I try to talk to them about such things, either aren’t interested or just give fatuous answers. I suppose I should be glad I’m free from cynicism (or I’ve grown out of it).

It’s 2.40am and I can’t sleep. Unecessary worry about things I can’t clearly define that won’t seem half as bad after a good night’s sleep!

I had a headache yesterday. Boyf was worried it might be signs of the infamous West Nile Virus that is transmitted by mosquitos and is apparently rampant throughout the USA but I think it was just sunstroke as we walked all over the place in the blazing heat. I’m better now but not going outside for day or two.
Internet content monitoring site Surf Control has my site listed as Arts & Entertainment. I hope you are all suitable entertained.

See what London is doing at the moment, care of a camera on top of the BBC World Service building (in which I worked for a brief period).
When you’re bored with that, listen to a CD of BBC World ident music.
It’s a lazy sunday. Boyf is making ginger snaps.
