Air tickets and travel insurance all arranged. What was life like before the internet?
Some noisy people outside last night. It almost sounded like they were trying to break in but they didn’t. I thought this was supposed to be a nice place.
Latest non-sequitor interest: I’m looking for a good book on linguistics after reading up stuff on the constructed language lojban, which is based on predicate logic.

It has been absolutely rotten weather recently. I can cope with rain and I can cope with wind but not both. Certainly not when I walk to and from work (that’s a total of four miles per day - aren’t I good?).
My sister has bought a new PC and I’m planning to claim her old one and put Linux on it. It’s far too slow now to run Windows. Come to think of it, it’s always been too slow for Windows.

Some nice presents for birthday and lots of cash - that’ll be useful in paying for my recent splurges (viz. X-Files DVD set series 2) and giving me some spending for my next scheduled Madison trip. Also bought a couple of Benetton towels. I never knew they made towels - did you?
Jungle.com delivered the compact flash card they claimed they’d cancelled. Not that I’m complaining - I’m planning to take many photos in the US. Now I have a total of 136MB in photo space
Valentina seems quite happy with the breadmaker. She sends me a SMS each time a loaf is done, the latest being Basil, Parmesan and SD Tomato bread. I made some walnut bread in retaliation.
Weight news: I think I lost 2lb over the past few weeks but in reality it was probably my manic depressive scales playing funnies with me. They make me seem heavy or light depending on what mood they’re in.

Birthday boy today - I’ve reached three decades and nothing to show for it. Neither rich nor famous.
Phil (the Mr Reynolds mentioned in previous entries) noted in his birthday card that I’d spelt ‘repository’ and ‘pursuit’ wrong in the diary page spiel. How embarassing! It must have been like that for a year! What a way to start the day.
Presents were waiting on my desk at work but were quickly hidden - this birthday is not public knowledge, but covered under section two of the Official Secrets Act. You have been warned.
Otherwise it’s nice and sunny today. Wear a smile.

The heating has broken at work. Everyone’s sitting here with coats and gloves on. We all dived for the health & safety rules on minimum temperature and, for an office (non-heavy work), it’s 20 degrees. I’m sure it’s lower than that now. Brrr!
Most likely going to visit boyf on 1st April, as the air ticket is

Hooray! Boyf received my Valentine’s card after all. He liked it and he’s feeling better too - that makes me so happy. He’s so sweet.
The IEE seem to have ignored my third change of address request. I wonder why I bother with them - there’s little in their magazines, etc. that I find relevant to software engineering. They spend all their time talking about power engineering, electronics from the 1940s and slagging off young people as being uneducated. I should give them a miss next year and save

Nice weekends, muggy weekdays. Better this way round I suppose.
Slow day at work, writing pre-study documents. Currently I’m all alone (in my little section of the office at least) listening to Biosphere on a most groovy MP3 player. Approximately forty-five albums loaded so far and still 15Gb left.
BTW hello Mr Reynolds!

Another contact from Friends Reunited - this time a fellow student. His email was casually chatty, as if we talk all the time. The last time we spoke was twelve years ago. Sounds like he’s quite respectable now.
Further analysis of the bug tracking tool we’re planning to introduce at work has revealed many flaws. Then again it is a beta but the experience has encouraged me to re-re-re-restart my own bug tool project. So far I’ve got a rather nice user administration page
Now I need to drive to the supermarket. Thank god it’s far enough away for me to have sufficient reason to drive. I’m getting rather sick of the cold weather. Roll on summer! Now! This minute!

Cool day with Valentina. We went shopping in Guildford, had lunch at Cafe Rouge and chatted about things Brazilian (especially the language, which I’m still in two minds whether to learn - even Valentina admitted it is hard). I feel further enthused to work on the Brasil! website.
Satisfied with my MP3 player. The transfer of CDs to it is gathering pace, though I wish it didn’t arrange tracks in alphabetical order - rather daft I calls it.
Looks like yet another card I sent to the US failed to arrive - what is it with that place? Why is it the black hole of postal services?

My MP3 player arrived today (at work). Everyone looked impressed, and seemed to think I was rich (am I? In relative terms?). It’s charging as we speak.
No word from boyf recently - I hope he’s OK and that he got my valentine’s card.
